Beginning Knitting II (Purl Stitch)

9am - 1pm

In this workshop we will give a brief review of knitting practices and students will learn to master the second basic knitting stitch (the purl stitch). You will learn how to work a stockinette pattern (the most common pattern for sweaters and other knitted garments) and will be taught how to calculate knitting gauge (a necessary requirement for sizing knitting projects). In the class you will begin a simple patterned scarf using knit and purl stitches in a combination of garter stitch and stockinette stitch patterns. We will also review and practice the technique for correcting simple mistakes. Needles and yarn for a scarf will be provided and are included in the materials fee.
