Basketry–a Ribbed Melon Basket

Ribbed-weave basketry is a fascinating technique that yields beautiful and strong round-bottom baskets. As you learn to use basic basket-making tools and equipment, you will weave your own melon basket using hoop construction and 4-point lashing. We teach you how to form the ribs and then weave and evenly shape your basket. To complete your project, you will learn simple basketry finishing techniques.
